Holst

Holst is an architecture firm based in Portland, Oregon that creates holistic, human-centric spaces. As an art director and lead designer on this project, I helped to create a logo, digital experience and business collateral system that aligned with their bold and thoughtful approach to architecture.

Brand System

The approach to the new logo was a simplified and hard-working altered typeface. Subtle rounded joints within each letterform soften the industrial geometric sans serif. A heavy duty book-binder board was chosen as the primary collateral material. The raw and industrial nature of this board joined with a smooth off-white paper spoke to both the design and building process. The tactile quality is further emphasized by a debossed logo on the board and letterpress print process for the copy.

The site redesign emphasized the quality and craft of Holst. Clear project categories organize the portfolio for easy user reference. Each project has a detail page that emphasizes features of the project, architect quotes, awards, hand-drawn sketches and of course beautiful architectural photography.
